One of my favorite pieces of furniture to own is the armoire. I find it to be one of the most versatile pieces of furniture pieces out on the market for several different reasons. Traditional armoires were used as a means of storing clothing in rooms that did not have a built in closet. Since most homes are built with closets in every room nowadays, armoires have changed a bit and can be used in any room in the house. If truth be told, in my home, I have five armoires!
An armoire is a tall cabinet that contains any combination of drawers, shelves, and/or doors. It can easily be used as a main storage unit or as a decoration piece of furniture. It serves perfectly in living rooms or family rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, home offices, play rooms, kitchen, and even the bathroom. The uses for an armoire are seemingly endless. Here are a few ideas of how you can use one, or a few, in your home.
The armoire is perfect for storing all of the unsightly electronics that we all have in our living room and family room. The shelving provides ample space for the electronics, and the drawers provide great storage for CD’s, video tapes, and gaming equipment. Because of the space allotment, extra blankets and pillows always fit with ease into an armoire as well. An armoire that is placed in the bedroom is a wonderful place to put all of your clothing. I find that I am able to store both winter and summer clothing at the same time and am not plagued by having to pack up items as the seasons turn.
Please check back on Wednesday for the conclusion.

Bedrooms have sure come a long way over the past couple 100 years! Knowing how they were in the past will give you a new appreciation for how they are in today’s world. In years past, most homes had a thatched roof that was piled high with straw on top. There was never any wood underneath, just the straw to provide protection overhead.
Buying a crib for your baby’s nursery can be great fun. There are many choices available and finding one with stellar beauty should not be your only concern. Buying a safe and durable crib that will last for many years should be a top priority.
I must admit, years ago when I had my first child, I was not sold on the idea of owning a changing station. I did not see the real value of such a piece of furniture and thought that it would just take up space in the small room that was due to be used as a nursery. After not owning one with my first child I did decide to purchase one when we moved and were expecting our second daughter. After using the dresser/changing station unit, I discovered that it was the perfect piece of furniture to have in a nursery. The cupboard provided ample storage for all of the baby items that needed stored and the drawers were perfect for the baby clothing. I absolutely loved that I could change and dress the baby in one area, and have all of the essential baby items right at my fingertips!
Sugar and spice and everything nice…that’s what they say about girls you know. Decorating a girl’s room, no matter the age, can be a fantastically fun adventure!
A successful Thanksgiving meal is what you hope you accomplished; but you still have one big holiday time period to get through before the year is over. There will be parties to host and seating decisions to be made.
