Jersey refers to a plain stitch-knitted weaving style, with flatbed, warp, or circular knitting. It produces fabric that is highly elastic and has excellent draping qualities. Thread count only refers to the number of threads that can be found in one square inch of fabric, and a higher count does not mean that the sheet is more durable or comfortable. When you see a thread count of 600 on a fabric, does it mean that it has 600 single threads per inch or 600 2-ply threads per inch? Many manufacturers will multiply the thread count of their double-ply fabrics by two, so that they can fool consumers into thinking that their products have higher thread counts. Fabrics with single ply threads are usually more delicate, while those with 2-ply threads are coarser.
Another factor that you should look into is the thickness of the threads. Bed sheets that are made of thick threads are more durable, but they are not as comfortable as sheets with finer threads.
